Zest Business Services Pty Ltd (ABN 34 607 940 143) respects your privacy. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This page explains, in plain English, what we collect and how we look after it.
What we collect
- Contact details you give us when you email or call, such as your name, email address and phone number.
- Information we need to do your tax and accounting work, such as income and expense records, bank and financial statements, business and entity details, superannuation details and your tax file number (TFN).
We collect this information directly from you, or from others with your permission (for example the ATO or your bank).
Why we collect it
We use your information to reply to your enquiry, to provide our accounting, taxation, bookkeeping, payroll and compliance services, to lodge returns and forms for you, and to meet our legal and professional obligations. We do not sell your information or use it for unrelated marketing.
Tax file numbers
We collect and use TFNs only where tax, superannuation or other laws allow it, and only for those purposes. We handle TFNs under the Privacy (Tax File Number) Rule 2015: we keep them secure, limit access to people who need them, and securely destroy or de-identify them when they are no longer legally required. You are not required by law to give us your TFN, but without it some services, such as lodging a tax return, may not be possible.
Who we share it with
We disclose your information only as needed to provide our services, with your consent, or as required or allowed by law. This may include:
- the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC);
- software and cloud service providers we use to deliver our services, such as Xero;
- other parties you ask us to deal with, such as your bank, lender or financial adviser.
Some of our software providers may store data on servers outside Australia. We use reputable providers that protect information securely.
Storage and security
Our practice is paperless and cloud based. We store information in secure, password-protected cloud systems and take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep records for as long as the law requires, then securely delete them.
Access and correction
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at any time by emailing info@zebs.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please contact us first at info@zebs.com.au or on 0403 958 460, and we will try to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
This website and cookies
This website does not set cookies, use analytics or tracking, or load fonts or scripts from third parties. It has no forms: if you email us from a link on the site, your email comes straight to us. Like any website host, our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs (such as IP addresses) to run and protect the site.
